The Battle of Kadesh (Qadesh), sometimes called the First World War, was one of the largest chariot battles ever fought. It was fought in 1275 B.C. in modern-day Syria between the Egyptians under Pharaoh Ramses II and the Hittites under King Muwatalli II, supported by eighteen of their allied and vassal states.

In the Battle of Kadesh, which took place between the Hittites and the Egyptians, who came together to increase their influence by seizing the trade routes of the region, the Egyptian Pharaoh II. Ramses' tactical error determined the fate of this war.
