Queen Nefertari was Pharaoh Ramses II's first wife. The scenes in this papyrus painting are taken from wall paintings in Nefertari's tomb. Nefertari is offering papyrus and lotus flowers to the goddess Isis in the scene on the right. In her other hand, Nefertari is holding a sistrum (sacred rattle). Isis holds the ankh (key of life) in her left hand and the 'was' scepter of power in her right. Isis is the mother goddess, as well as the goddess of magic and fertility. The throne, the sun disk with cow's horns, and the sycamore tree are all associated with Isis. Isis is shown leading Queen Nefertari by the hand in the middle scene. On the left, Nefertari is carrying papyrus and lotus flowers.
