Nefertari was Pharaoh Ramesses II's main wife, and her tomb, with its vibrant wall paintings, is one of Egypt's most beautiful tombs. The queen (left) is led by the goddess Isis. Notable is the absence of Nefertari's husband, Ramesses II, from these scenes, indicating the queen's high status, which allowed her to directly interact with the deities without him; such depictions would be impossible for non-royal individuals.
