Nebamun is shown hunting birds in a small boat together with his wife Hatshepsut and their young daughter in the marshes of the Nile.

Such scenes had been a traditional part of the decoration of tomb chapels for hundreds of years and showed the dead owner of the tomb "enjoying himself and seeing beauty", as the hieroglyphic caption reads here. But this activity had another metaphorical meaning. When the deceased is depicted hunting and grasping fowl or birds, it means that he has control over the chaotic powers of the afterlife.
