Anubis the God of Dead
Ancient Egyptian god of the afterlife Anubis, also known as Anpu, is symbolized as a jackal or a man with a jackal's head. He held a dominant (though not exclusive) status as lord of the dead during the Early Dynastic and Old Kingdom, although Osiris eventually eclipsed him.
As a death deity, Anubis is an active participant in the death process and presides over rituals for the corpse and soul. Anubis is credited with the invention of the embalming and mummification process. He may be petitioned to look after the spirit of a newly-departed person. Anubis is also a master of astral travel. He allows humans and spirits to travel between realms and, if asked to do so, will protect you on the astral plane.
